The Town of Midland will honour the memory of beloved former Councillor and Mayor George MacDonald, by dedicating a stretch of sidewalk on Howard Street in his name.
George MacDonald was a longtime Council member of Midland for 22 years, including 12 years as Mayor. He also served for two years as Simcoe County Warden. His dedication to the Town of Midland was evident throughout his long public service career that began in 1989 with his last term on Council ending in 2018.
Memorial plaques have been placed at either end of the Howard Street sidewalk between Penetanguishene Road and Woodland Drive, and the dedication ceremony will take place on Wednesday May 31, 2023.
