On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, La Maison Rosewood Shelter will host its annual December 6th Vigil.
December 6th is a day to challenge the long-standing complacency towards gender-based violence and to remember the lives taken. Community members are asked to reflect upon this ongoing violence, and to demand that as a society we take accountability in actively ending violence against women.
The vigil will remember the 14 women murdered at l'École Polytechnique in 1989, along with the women and children that were murdered in Ontario this past year.

Never have we hosted anyone who is so universally adored as this very special guest. He’s known as Santa Claus, Père Noël, Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, or simply Santa. And he’s coming to the MCC on December 9th!
Host Fred Hacker will have a lively 15-20 minute conversation with Santa and we’ll learn all about Santa’s elves, his reindeer, Mrs. Claus, his North Pole workshop, Santa’s preparations for Christmas Eve, and how it’s possible for him to visit so many children around the world!
Children will have the opportunity to do a holiday craft with Quest Art in the Atrium before the event. Following the talk with Santa, the children will be able to go on stage to drop off their Christmas wishlist into Santa's mailbox and meet Santa for a photo opportunity.
Admission for this event is FREE with registration, thanks to the sponsorship of Midland Rotary Club.

Penny-pinching miser Ebenezer Scrooge is well-known across Victorian London for being far more interested in making money than friends. Above all else, he hates Christmas time and its spirit of giving. But on one particular Christmas Eve, several spirits give Ebenezer the surprise of his life, as they whisk him off on a magical journey through past, present and future, to show him the true meaning of the season. From Fezziwig to Tiny Tim, all the favourites are included in DuffleBag Theatre’s exuberant version of the Charles Dickens Yuletide classic!
The show includes:
Interactive fun and plenty of humour!
