The Arrogant Worms have spent over three decades making fun of a big dumb world. Their songs have been played on the radio, the internet, and in outer space (on the space shuttle Endeavour). The Worms began at Queen’s University in 1991 when some members of the student cabaret group, The Queen’s Players, started writing songs and sketches for the campus radio station CFRC. Soon the group became The Arrogant Worms (Chris Patterson, Mike McCormick, and Trevor Strong) who have since toured ceaselessly across Canada (and select other parts of the world), released 13 albums, and recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Their song, The Last Saskatchewan Pirate, has been covered by bands such as Captain Tractor and The Longest Johns, and their Happy Happy birthday song is a viral sensation with over one hundred million views of the various fan videos on YouTube. More than thirty years after they began, The Arrogant Worms continue to provide tuneful and silly escapism for everyone who needs it.

The Difference Sex and Gender make in Our Health
Are there differences between the way men and women experience illness and respond to treatment during their lifetimes?
Women have a higher incidence of chronic illness, but men die younger. Is this because of our biology (sex) or our cultural and social roles (gender)? For transgender and gender-fluid individuals, it can be even more complicated.
As men and women, we tend to make assumptions about what the other sex experiences in terms of health and well-being. Join us to learn about how research is challenging these assumptions and busting myths.
In this “Our Health” event, our panel of experts will explore how vascular disease (heart and stroke), bone health and the stresses of caregiving impact men and women differently with regards to research, detection, diagnosis, treatment and health outcomes.
The Difference Sex and Gender Make to Our Health will be held in-person at the Midland Cultural Centre with Free registration and will also be broadcast on Rogers TV throughout Simcoe County. The program will also be streamed free of charge, live and into the future at Online. If you want to watch past Our Health programs, here's the link to the videos MCC Our Health.

The Top Hat Ceremony is a 100+ years Midland tradition that was first started by James Playfair, one of Midland’s most prominent citizens and owner of over 50 ships. Mr. Playfair created the Midland Navigation Company in 1900 and then began a friendly competition by offering a black, silk top hat to the first ship into Midland Harbour each season.
This year it is back! Mayor Gordon and Harbour Master Rick will be honouring this tradition by congratulating Captain Brandon Durant of the Canadian Steamship M.V. Frontenac, with a gift from the Town for being the first commercial vessel of the season! As well as presenting Captain Durant with Mr. Playfair’s own black, silk top hat for a photo op.

Shayla Brown is one of those “hometown kids” who, at the age of 19, has already made it BIG. She has been lauded in the “big three”, namely a TV series, live theatre and a feature film. She has acted alongside Jason Momoa in the Apple TV Plus sci-fi series “See”. This past year was an amazing year for Shayla. In April she made her Toronto stage debut at the Crow Theatre in “Orphans for the Czar”. And in December she appeared in “Women Talking”, a film directed by Sarah Polley that recently won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Not bad for a young woman who only recently completed high school, and she is just getting started. Sarah Polley has encouraged Shayla to write and direct. Shayla, who has been blind since birth, is an advocate for better representation of the visually impaired in a more inclusive Hollywood.
